Vintage Slant Erie EPU Griswold No 4 (702) Cast Iron Excel Restored Condition
Vintage Griswold No 4 cast iron skillet with heat ring and the Slant EPU mark (Griswold in italics, marked Erie, PA, USA), pattern 702. Made between 1909 to 1920, over 100 years old, pattern 702. Cooking surface been etch from corrosion and is slightly rough to the touch, but otherwise this is a nice example. Three sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge on the bottom of the pan stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process insures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more.
Item is well seasoned with several rounds of seasoning. This items were photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item will take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
