Impressed right out the box... Agree with seasoning before using also. Grabs/holds lid well; I think the design of handle is more for the lifter, thus the comments about handle being too small.

Monster pot, comes with a lid-lifter. This is a monster pot, big enough to hold a large pot roast or chicken, complete with carrots, onions and potatoes. It's good and heavy with a nice pre-finish. I think I'd like the finish to be built up a bit more, so I'm going to season it a few more times before I take it from the oven (yeah, not too fun getting the little legs in between the oven rack to use it) to an open campfire. Given the difference in price between this pot and the Lodge, I'm happy with my investment.

I knew the item was going to be a large dutch oven but let me tell you. I made NINE baked apples in this oven with no problem. The oven really is pre-seasoned. Baked applies with oatmeal and brown sugar cooked in it for an hour DIDN'T STICK!

I'm positive my future grandchildren will inherit this thing. I paid a significantly lower price compared to other sites I viewed. If I ever need anything like this again, I'll look to Camp Chef as my preferred brand. Haven't cooked in a dutch oven in 20 years, works great. Used it as a ovon and a griddle.
