1866-'70's Cast Iron Tea Pot Kettle Great Western Stove Foundry, Leavenworth KS
Mid to late 1800's operated under several variations of names (depending on the product of manufacture and timeline) such as "The Great Western Stove Company", "The Western Foundry & Mill Machinery Works", "Great Western Manufacturing Company" in the town of Leavenworth Kansas, 4 block area of 2nd & 3rd streets & Cherokee & Choctaw streets. Weighs - 8.85 pounds! 6-1/2 tall at the spout. 7 tall at the back (opposite of spout). 12-3/4 long - tip of spout to the back.

9-1/2 wide at the waist. 7" diameter at the bottom with sloping base angle - would fit a stove-top hole at about 7-3/4" to 8 diameter. On the top of the lid in raised lettering it reads " WESTERN FOUNDRY - LEAVENWORTH KANSAS - PATENTED MAY 8TH 1866 " and also the number " 8 " on the top of the spout. This rare antique kettle has been stored in my barn for many years, is a little dusty and rusty and could use some cleaning and rubbed down with oil if desired, but still displays just fine as is as a historical piece. This kettle has a lip or inset near the bottom (photo #5) and was was made to set onto a heat access hole on the top of one of their wood or coal cast iron kitchen stoves - looks like it would fit into approx.

Also notice the very heavy-duty but slightly flexible hand-forged metal handle - see close-up photos such as 4, 5 & 6, & 7 - flat surface on the outside and curved surface on the inside with the spiked hammer formed ends. The kettle and lid is solid condition, no damage such as cracks, hairlines, alterations, or repair.

This is a great example of early American cast iron history, and I believe Western Foundry of Leavenworth was the first (if not only) iron works foundry west of the Mississippi in the mid 1800's.
