Griswold Erie Erie Spider Logo 8 Cast Iron Skillet. If you found this you know what your looking atone of the rarest skillets Griswold made. Blue book says it was made prior to 1890. I will try to describe it the best I can. Obviously it has been used.
The cooking surface is great with only slight marks attributed to casting. The outer surface is also great. It is not at all uncommon to see antique cast iron pans with roughness in the center area on the bottom of the pan. That roughness was likely caused from cooking over old coal-burning stoves with stove eyes, when the cover of the eye had been removed.
This is commonly referred to as sulfur pitting. The spider logo is not pristine. You can see the frying pan and make out ERIE but its not super sharp. The biggest issue, is the sidewalk crack. It does slightly spin (not uncommon because the logo was proud of the surface).
Slight wobble corrected with two business cards (see pic). These are so collectible no one would dare cook with them so if you are looking for the must have skillet for your collection here it is. I will be documenting the packaging so there will be 0% chance of it arriving damaged. IF IT ARRIVES DAMAGED I WILL WANT IT BACK.
