The bottom is clearly marked "PURITAN" and "8 1/2". Physical Condition This chicken fryer is in excellent restored condition.

Restoration Process Overview This piece has been meticulously restored to bring it back to its original glory. (1) Lye Bath: The item was submerged in a 1M (Molar) Sodium Hydroxide bath to strip away all old seasoning and carbon buildup.(2) Hydrolysis: It then underwent electrolysis at 10 Amperes (A) for thorough rust removal, reaching every pore of the iron. (3) Triple Oven Seasoning: Finally, it was seasoned three times with Flaxseed Oil, creating a durable and beautiful protective finish. This smooth-bottom model, bearing the "PURITAN" block logo, was likely produced in the 1930s-1940s. These pieces offered Griswold's exceptional casting quality-famously smooth, lightweight, and durable-at a more competitive price.
