"VICTOR" #5 695 CAST IRON SKILLET Victor. We are going thru my Great Grandmother's stuff.
My Grandmother had this is a box with kitchen stuff in the basement. She says it has been there for decades.
I have attached many many photograhs as I don't know what people are looking for. It was so gunky that we cleaned it up some and seasoned again. And I know that it can be cleaned better, all that crusty stuff comes off. I wish I had taken a before photo. You could not see that number 5 on the handle before the vinegar and coke.
We did the Coca Cola thing which actually works quite well. Then we did the white vinegar which really works the best. There are a few places that we missed, but now that I know it will all come off, I'll say that whoever gets this can finish and it will be excellent. I've read that it is carbon or old built up grease. I'll leave the rest of the cleaning to the new owner. There are no cracks or chips that I see, and it sits flat on my electric stove. In fact, it heats better on a glass top stove than my Revere pans.
