Vintage Lodge 3-Notch No 14 Cast Iron Skillet Restored Condition c1950s

This is a classic 3-notch Lodge No 14 cast iron skillet. The No 14s from the late 1940s to the 1950s are not very common. Most of the No 14s encountered carry the hallmark, "(US)".

These pans were produced in the 1960s. This comes from the series of skillets that was produced in the 1950s. The pan is in fully restored condition and ready to use. The pan was very dirty with an incredible amount of carbon build up.

After cleaning, the cooking surface was revealed to have been heavily etched from corrosion. While it may not look very nice, it will not affect its performance. Eight sheets of printer paper slipped under the bottom edge stops movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving.

Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours.

This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
