Vintage Wagner Ware Sidney O No 9 (1289) Cast Iron Oval Roaster Ex Seasoned Cond

This stylized logo Wagner Ware No 9 cast iron oval roaster is pushing 90 yr old and dates to the 1930s, is the largest in the series and in excellent seasoned condition. This truly is an heirloom piece that needs to find a great home and be passed along in the family. Not only is this massive roaster in such great condition, it has a super heavy duty bail handle with two coiled handles. I have seen a lot of roasters but, never see this feature.

Not sure if this is a Wagner factory option or not, but it's a remarkedly high-quality addition that would rival any factory-applied bail handle. This roaster weighs in at 34.5 pounds, has a 20-quart capacity and can easily handle an 18-22 pound roast or turkey.

At capacity, you could be looking at trying to remove a 56.5-pound roaster out of the oven. This is a Herculean feat! This thoughtfully designed bail handle is to be considered as a welcomed safety feature to allow easy transfer out of the oven. The cooking surface is in excellent condition with hints of utensil scores and etching from corrosion. These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a glass smooth surface.

Eight sheets of printer paper stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs to pot and cover. Test for flatness of pot.

With the pot resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim of the pot searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. This item is from an old collection and was cleaned and seasoned, then stored for many years.

Because item was stored for many years, there may be spots of light surface rust. This can generally be washed away then re-seasoned before use. This item is photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details.
