Vtg Pre-Griswold Erie No 8 (811) Cast Iron Flat Bottom Kettle Excel Condition

Pre-Griswold ERIE No 8 flat bottom kettle in restored condition. The lower interior surface does have pitting and still very smooth to the touch. Three sheets of printer paper slipped under the bottom of the pot stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin. Test for flatness of Pan. With the pan resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim of the pan searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the pan until pan stops moving. This item is from an old collection that was cleaned and seasoned, then stored for many years.

Because item was stored for many years, there may be spots of light surface rust. This can generally be washed away then re-seasoned before use.

This item is photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color.
